Considering City View Charter School?

We’re so glad you’re exploring City View for your family. As a public charter school of choice, we want to provide families with a clear picture of what makes our community unique—and what to consider when applying.

What Makes City View Unique?

💡 Engaging Academic Environment

  • We offer a project-based learning model with fieldwork and real-world application.

  • Our curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.

  • Students engage deeply with concepts through hands-on exploration and multi-disciplinary studies.

👨‍🏫 Support for Students with IEPs or 504 Plans

  • City View serves a broad range of learners, including those with IEPs and 504 plans but has a resource room only supports.

  • While we aim to provide inclusive supports, some services typically offered by larger districts (e.g., dedicated specialists on-site daily) may differ at our small school.

  • Important: If your child has an IEP or 504 Plan, please inform us at the time of enrollment so we can plan support accordingly.

🤝 Attachment and Transition Support

  • Because we’re a K–8 school, we prioritize long-term relationships with students and families.

  • Transitions to our school can be challenging if your child is already attached to another school community. We encourage families to consider whether a change is the best fit for their child at this time.

Additional Considerations

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Siblings

  • Admission is based on a lottery system. It is possible that one sibling may receive an offer while another does not.

  • Once a student is enrolled, their siblings receive priority on the waitlist for their respective grade levels.

🚗 Commute & Transportation

  • City View does not provide bus service. Families must plan for reliable daily transportation.

  • Carline drop-off and pick-up procedures require punctuality and patience.

🌿 Fieldwork & Outdoor Learning

  • Our students regularly leave campus for fieldwork and community engagement. While enriching, this requires flexibility, signed permissions, and at times, parent chaperones.

📅 School Schedule

  • Our school calendar differs from the Hillsboro School District’s. Please review it to ensure alignment with your family's scheduling needs.

Financial Commitment

💰 “Bridge the Gap” Fund

  • As a charter school, City View receives approximately 80% of the per-student funding that district schools receive.

  • To maintain our robust programs, we ask families—if able—to contribute to our Bridge the Gap Fund.

  • Donations are voluntary but essential. These contributions support staffing, fieldwork, arts, and technology.
