As we enter into the half-way mark of the school year, it is a great time to revisit the HoWLs character traits with your student!

Community Events!
Immunization Exclusion Day and Vaccine Clinics Available
Immunization Exclusion Day is Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024. Students who do not have all required vaccinations or a medical or nonmedical exemption on file by that date will be excluded from school. HSD school-based health center at Century High School will be prioritizing vaccination appointments the week of Feb. 19. Call 503-597-4580 to make an appointment and please bring the student’s immunization record.
Education Reading Fair: February 25, 10am-1pm
Kappa Delta Pi, the School of Education honor society, is once again hosting their annual Reading Fair on Sunday, February 25th from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the University of Portland in Franz Hall. This FREE event is an opportunity for families and children to come spend an afternoon together and share their love of reading. Children of all ages are welcome to participate in fun hands-on activities. See flyer here.
Summer Learning Program
Now accepting applications for the annual Summer Learning Program! In this program, the learning focuses on the Oregon State Benchmarks appropriate for each child in mathematics, language arts (reading, writing, and speaking), and any other subjects in which the student needs help. Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) candidates tutor/teach students according to their learning needs. There are usually 4-5 students per 2-3 MAT candidates. See flyer here.
This year’s program will run July 1-August 1, Monday-Thursday, 9:30am-11:30am, and we welcome students entering grades 2-11 in 2024-25. The cost of the program is $125, though scholarships are available.
