Admissions Information

Welcome to City View Charter School!

We understand that choosing the right school for your child is an important decision, and we're here to support you every step of the way. As you consider enrolling your child at City View, we want to share some friendly considerations to help you make the best choice for your family:

  • Engaging Academic Environment: Our school offers an engaging academic environment where students are encouraged to explore, learn, and grow.
  • Support for Students with IEPs or 504 Plans: If your child has an IEP or a 504 plan, we're committed to ensuring that their academic needs are met with our specialized student services. Please note that while we strive to provide support, our resources may not be as extensive as those available at larger schools. Please ensure the school knows the IEP or 504 when registering the student (not at the application phase). This will help the administration ensure we have all the necessary information to help ensure your student's success at City View. As a note, City View can only offer Resource Room-only supports to students.
  • Transition and Attachment: We understand that transitioning to a new school can be a big change for students. Consider how attached your child is to their current school, friends, and teachers, and how adaptable they are to new environments.
  • Sibling Coordination: If you have siblings in another school, please keep in mind that our school does not provide school bus service, which may require coordinating multiple drop-offs and pick-ups.
  • Commute Considerations: Consider how our school location may impact your commute to and from work.
  • Fieldwork and Community Engagement: Our school values hands-on learning experiences and community involvement. Families are encouraged to participate in fieldwork activities, which may occasionally include overnight trips.
  • Different School Day and Calendar: Our school day and calendar may differ from other schools in the area. While we offer morning and afternoon recesses (K-5th) and a lunch break, please be aware that our schedule may vary from district schools.
  • Financial Support and Fundraising: As a charter school, City View receives only 80% of the state funding allocated to public school students. We rely on our supportive community for volunteer service and fundraising efforts to bridge our financial gap. While we do our best to meet the needs of all students, please understand that our resources may be limited compared to larger schools.

We want to assure you that we're committed to providing a positive and enriching experience for every student at City View Charter School. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our school community, please don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to welcoming you!

Admission FAQ's

At City View Charter School, we welcome applications from all Hillsboro, Oregon, residents and surrounding areas. Like all Oregon public schools, there is no tuition charged, and all students are eligible to apply. Please note that City View does have an annual Fieldwork Fee and enrollment fee.

Admission is limited to 48 students for our incoming Kindergarten classes and to any openings in grades 1-8. Student acceptance is based on a computerized lottery at random. Students are accepted with siblings of current students first, students who reside inside the Hillsboro School District, then students who live outside of the Hillsboro School District boundaries. Once the spots are filled, the remaining names will form the waiting list.

We encourage families to begin their application process by exploring our website and attending our open houses (either online or virtual) to learn more about our program. All applications submitted by the deadline are entered into the annual lottery, held in the spring. The lottery determines admission for Kindergarten applicants and fills any openings in grades 1-8 for the following school year.

After the lottery, families will be notified via email regarding their student's admission status or waitlist number. Families will have one week to decide whether to accept the offered spot.

Our Kindergarten Crew typically has the most openings, but the number of available spots varies each year. Siblings of existing students may fill some of the spaces. Interested families can still apply and will be added to the waitlist in case spaces become available.
As a public charter school, we have limited special education and student services resources. The Hillsboro School District provides a Resource Materials Teacher and a Speech and Language Pathologist for students with IEPs; however, these specialists are only available on a part-time basis. Please schedule a placement meeting with City View Charter School and the SpEd team at your current or "home" school for students with IEPs or 504 plans.
For applications received by the lottery deadline, the lottery process will determine whether you have received a space in a class or your position on the waitlist. Our waitlist is recreated annually after each lottery and is utilized throughout the spring and summer to fill openings as they occur.
City View currently charges no fee, however, there is a suggested donation to the school. Additionally, a non-refundable enrollment fee of $50 is due prior to enrollment forms being processed.
The lottery will be ran electronically with a random generator. The system will email and/or SMS text you information about either your student's placement in a space at City View or their waitlist number.
We give priority to siblings of currently enrolled students the to students who reside inside the Hillsboro School District boundaries then outside the boundaries.
Please take a look in your SPAM folder as they can sometimes go there.  If you still cannot find it, please just log into your account and you can review your information.

Unfortunately, there are no crystal balls around here. However, historically we have to go to the waitlist during the summer.  Often what happens is a family will make a different decision during the summer and we will find out in August or the first part of September. So please think about if we were to call you in September would you be ready to move your student?

No, we do not keep our waitlists year to year. If you would like to try for a space for the next school year you will need to reapply starting next January.

You can log back into your account and view your information at any time.

Yes, you will be emailed and/or receive an SMS text if a space becomes available.

If a space does come available anytime during the school year we do try and fill that space. Again we work our way down the waitlist until it gets filled. The only exception is if the space comes available after April 1st of the school year, at that time the space will remain unfilled due to limited time in the rest of the school year.
City View lottery dates are as follows:

1st Round Lottery: April 25, 2024. The Final cut-off date for application is April 23, 2024
2nd Round Lottery: May 23, 2024. The final cut-off date for application is May 21, 2024
The 2nd round lottery is for families who applied after April 22nd through May 20th.  After May 22nd, families will be placed on our waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis.

Families will be notified of the results via email by 5 p.m. on the lottery day. If a family does not receive an email, they can log in to their account and view their space information at http://cityviewcharter.integrity6.com/Login.
