Volunteering

Volunteers at City View are integral to our program's success.  We highly recommend at least 10 volunteer hours per family per year.   We hope all families will support their students and our programs by helping out in the classrooms, doing fieldwork, or joining one of our crews.

How can I become a volunteer?

  1. Review the Volunteering slides.
  2. All parent Volunteers will take the Volunteer Quiz.
  3. Review the Chaperone Code of Conduct.  (Agreement to the code of conduct will be found in your background check application.)
  4. Review and pass the SB 155 Abuse and Sexual Conduct training.
  5. Finally, parents will need to pass a background check.
We realize this process involves many steps, so we have created an online course to walk volunteers through it. You can access the course by clicking on the volunteer process course image on the right.

Ways to Volunteer

  1. Join the Fundraising Committee—This committee is integral to our success. The fundraising committee organizes several events throughout the school year to bring our community together and raise funds for various programs. Fundraising opportunities can include Original Art (October), Wolf Walk (September),  Plant Sale (Spring), and the auction (April). You can also join the fundraising committee and help us plan or lead a fundraiser.

  2. Help in the classroom- We always need parents to help in the classroom.  If you cannot be in the classroom, teachers can also use your help with class projects from home.   Please check with your child’s teacher for specific opportunities.

  3. Be a fieldwork driver and chaperone-   Much of our fieldwork cannot happen without parents driving.  If you can drive students, please make sure you have a current background check on file.

  4. Help in the art room— Art room volunteers help students meet the art learning targets, talk to students about their work, help prep and organize materials, and keep messy projects running smoothly in the art room!
  5. Help on our Playground during recess or PE.-  Contact the front office for more information.
